Everywhere gay marriage is legalized, children’s rights to their biological parents are weakened or outright obliterated. No country has legalized same-sex marriage and strengthened children’s relationships with their mother and father. Children’s rights and gay marriage are fundamentally incompatible.
Marriage is Married to Parenthood—a global survey shows how gay marriage weakens children’s rights. This is exactly what happened in the United States. Once husbands and wives became optional in marriage, mothers and fathers became optional in parenthood laws—state after state after state.
Eight years of Obergefell prove that children are the true victims of “marriage equality.” But how do these children fare? “Love” does not “make a family.” With gay parenting, child loss makes a family—a loss that jeopardizes their security, mars their identity, and leaves them with a deep longing for their missing mother or father. Don’t take my word for it. Take theirs.
Stories of Donor-Conceived Kids with Gay Parents: Alongside reproductive technologies—especially surrogacy—redefining parenthood in the name of “equality” for same-sex couples has dismantled what it means to be a human child and placed everyone’s parental rights at risk.
How Legalizing Surrogacy Helps Activists ‘Queer’ Babies: Idaho is challenging Obergefell on states’ rights grounds. If successful, it would de-federalize marriage. But every state should challenge same-sex marriage on children’s rights grounds—because it normalizes for children what will never be normal, healthy, or beneficial: the loss of their mother or father.
